"This is my only begotten son whom I love. With him I am well pleased" ...
... I couldn't have said it better myself! Dad.
This page is designed to consist of sub-entries to accommodate the influx of photos that pleasantly invaded my plan for one page. The abundance of photos, even after wrestling with my weakness to be selective, still left a considerable number of pictures posted.
To avoid overloading the page to the point of taking too long to download - which would be meaningless ; I had to create several pages for Pele'. I really was selective!
Please click on each of the sub-pages on the left to share with me a look at the most important person in my life, my son Pele'.
To navigate through the pages of this site, please use the index page "Site Map" link at the end of the page.
Pele' and I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
At age 6 he already knows how to use his email, he writes and reads fairly well, he navigates his way on the web fine with great computer skills.
Pele's home page
This page was created in summer 2000. I intend to maintain it as is for obvious sentimental reasons. At the moment "July 2000", Pele' is six years old and his section consists of 6 pages.
Additional sub-pages will be added annually. However, each page entered under Pele's site will be preserved and maitained as entered at the time it was created, with the tone, wording, pictures and approach taken when the page was first written.
Using the options above, you can browse through Pele's section of the site. The "Home" button below Pele's 5 pages, will take you back to the site's main entrance.
Pele' is now 6 years old. He has just finished KG and will be going straight to grade 2+3 class.
Pele' has just been officially tested and assessed to read at level 5+
Pele' and I spend half an hour to an hour every day reading and writing together.
Pele' is named after the greatest footballer. Just when I thought I have turned the page on parenthood, an experience I never had but I did study and I knew all about it "in theory" - or thought I did; Pele' brings a new era, new experience and solid pleasure and goal into my life.
As this section of the site focuses on Pele's main
characteristics and fiber, two facts cannot be over-
looked:
1- His artistic aptitude and talent
2- His relationship with me which seems just like mine
with my dad.
On the opening page of Pele's site, I would like to post a couple of samples of his almost daily "gifts" to me; cards he creates.
He expresses his emotions via art. I have a thick binder so far of his artistic work.
The two samples posted below were created in winter 1999 in British Columbia. They are "Pele' to Dad" gifts, the most precious gifts I received:
In summer 2000 I started a new era of my life. In vain I had hoped to delay the inevitable separation of his mom and I until he is a bit older. I was blessed to have the sole custody and sole gaurdianship of my only son, and Pele' and I started our lives together, just a son & dad in May 2000, just the two of us. Most ironic, the first day we moved into a small one bedroom apartment in Nanimo in May 2000, we turn on the radio and "just the two of us" , a song about a dad & son, is playing. Incredible coincidence. That song still moves me!
So, as I indicated, Pele' lives with me; which made my life normal and complete since he not only has never been separated from me, I have been more fortunate than many fathers, having been the parent who solely raised him since birth. Something I truly enjoyed and am terrified to loose. Yes, I hope I can keep him a little boy for a decade to come!
Here is another letter I kept. A year 2000 memorabilia.
Pele' went to his mom's house last Saturday for most of the day. When I picked him up on Sunday, he rushed to give me his big hug and then ran inside to get my gift, a letter he wrote me and has not shown it to anyone. Here it is:
I'll miss my hug & kiss when he puts on the macho teen outlook soon! Mind you, my dad hugged me and kissed me publicly when I was a high school and a university student; but, the culture and social attitude were different.
