Game promotion III:

The preceding presentations deal with a case of a small town club that has remained that way for 25 years, then in 3 years became not only a the large club, it in fact achieved the highest registration per capita in Canada.

The AGM attendance jumped from the average dozen people to 280, 500, 600, 750 people attending for the following 4 years. Click on the link above to view photos.

Following that, I was nominated and appointed to join the provincial public relations & game promotion committee in Ontario, 1990.
Technical Development, Players & Coaches:

For three years I was involved with the training and assisting coaches. I served as a had coach for 2 years while serving as a president. I formed a very effective inter-town coaches committee.

Office administration & management:

The most significant accomplishment was the production of a 256 page reference manual on club administration and management including a month by month agenda and a complete set of forms and procedure.

As a club & association president, I chaired an office development committee as we obtained a prestigious facility.
Finances Committee:

Serving as a treasurer of a club and an association up to the National level was one more of several hats I accepted and had the time to wear.

Constitutions Committee:

While serving as York Region S. A. - Ontario - Vice President in the late 1980's, it was my duty for 2 years to act as the regional constitutions committee chair to assist, monitor and approve the constitutions of the clubs and leagues in membership.
Tournaments Committee:

Over the years while serving as a club and a district & regional league chair, I also took on the responsibilty of organizing several tournaments including three international invitational tournaments with teams from USA, England, Holand and South America.
Some of the tournaments I chaired consisted of 125 teams from U12 to U18 playing over one "long" weekend.

Finally, perhaps the most challenging "often frustrating" goal is converting the attitude of semi-experienced committees who often tend to believe that it is the norm to have a dozen people show up for an AGM and nothing can be done about it, or that developing referees is a too fantastic, too theoretical a dream that just looks good on paper!

A good example is the case with referee development when everyone argued that nothing can be done about the fact that 10 or 20 referees only would show up for an educational session. As I said in the posted article published in The Canadian National magazine "Inside Soccer", development necessitates enforcement, commitment and incentive. If a complete structure is formed right it will work.
I Know it works. I made a record when I stood in front of 96 referees to instruct them in Scarborough, Ontario and attendance record jumped from 5% to 94% average.  Success in football, as in real life,  has no room for compromised, lazy, or skeptical approaches.
